The world's largest gathering of African journalists, HIGHWAY AFRICA, is underway at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. The conference is in uts 12th year this year, having begun as an initiative by Roland Stanbridge and Proffessor Guy Berger in 1997.
Highway Africa Director, Chris Kabwato has just made the opening speech, detailing how the conference has grown over the years. An estimated 800 journalists are attending this year's conference. Head of the School of Journalism at Rhodes University, Proffessor Guy Berger is currently talking about this year's theme, Citizen journalism, Journalism for Citizens.
