Dear diary
All fun and games in this house hold. I am so overdue with my diary sessions but why am I not surprised? With mom being on “planet Pluto”……the “credit crunch” in your human being’s world…..the non existent transport and waste disposal strikes in Durbs and my dear beloved dad still working 8 days a week, as the Beatle song goes. All I can say is thank heavens I am a bird and do not have to put up with what you “earthlings” are going through.
The old folks stepped out yesterday to get me my weekly food. Bless my dad; first thing he always looks for is my speciality…’grendelch’. Low and behold he found 5 tiny ones for fifteen rand…..talk about the “credit crunch”……I am so fortunate……my parents look the other way when it comes to my well being! My ‘grendelch’ is seasonal but luckily I also have a preference for guavas, grapes, prickly pears, my veggies and nuts. Our butcher was so surprised when my dad ordered 4 chops for me, well, according to the folk I am worth it…..not only the ladies with that wonderful cosmetic product!
My dear mom….what can I say……I am really giving her a lot of stick lately! Six months ago she oiled all the doors but remember, us African Grey’s ‘store’ a lot of things, long gone and forgotten….mmm, all of a sudden, every time she opens a door I let go of the most horrendous screech you can think of! Unfortunately for her, I have picked up the sound of a stapler……you try it and listen to that sound and add a ‘high note’ to it. My dad used to play a game on his PC called ‘bubbles’ and now I am repeating the sound of them bubbles on a daily basis. I am really driving the old lady nuts and take note, us African Grey’s do not take lightly to being reprimanded! Hold thumbs for the Sharks today and I hope to keep my diary sessions up to date. Mom has got a few ‘assignments’ lined up….mmm, you must have thought we all emigrated to “Down Under”…..not the case…..she has just been ‘hibernating’…….she is slowly getting ‘out of it’! Excuses, excuses……… Ciao from a sunny but slightly chilly Durbs!
