Gautrain: R25 billion, 5 years – worth it?

In 2000 it was announced that a new train line would be built in Gauteng, connecting the cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg, and relieving congestion. Its been over five years since construction began but with just over a year until the date of completion and approximately R25 billion spent, the success of development is questionable. Zoopy spoke to the Gautrain Management Agency CEO Jack van der Merwe a few weeks ago who confirmed that the project is on track, and spending has gone according to plan. But what do those who pass by Rosebank’s soon-to-be station everyday think?
