    Investors in Zambia to support leasing for business in Zambia development despite credit crunch
    Alios Finance SA a leading pan African finance company has invested in Zambia to help support the development of agriculture, commercial, transport, mining tourism and manufacturing sectors.
    In an interview yesterday Alios finance Zambia CEO Prithiraj de Zoysa said, “Alios have invested in Zambia and will not only bring readily available capital to finance projects through lease facility but will also bring in new skills and systems to help develop the local company. Alios Finance SA has shown confidence in Zambia despite the tough global economy and is in a position to offer lease financing even when there is a scarcity of credit locally.
    Alios Finance which has been in operations in Africa for more than 50 years bought into Merchantile Leasing which has since changed its name to Alios Zambia and will assume the same identity as Alios operations across the continent in countries such as Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, Gabon, Mali, and Burkino Faso. The Major shareholders in the company include FMO (Dutch Development Bank), FinnFund (Finland Development Fund), CFAO, Opthoug Group, African Holding Limited, Tunis Leasing
    Mr de Zoysa also announced that Africinvest Financial Sector Limited, a venture capital fund, has taken up 10% stake and have further invested $850,000 through preference shares in Alios Finance Zambia Limited by way of unsecured funding. Africinvvest focus on investment in the financial services sector in companies’ across Africa. Through different funds that they managed, they have invested in commercial banks, leasing companies, mortgage houses, and Micro financial institutions and leasing companies. They have invested in countries such as Ghana, Nigeira, Rwanda and now Zambia.
