Thank you so much, Kerry! Actually, it's not selfless work - we love every minute of it and feel ourselves to be incredibly privileged. I hope the books bring back some happy memories of the Matobo for you.

I'm busy reading through 800 pages of diary to get material for the next book. In fact, I fell asleep over it - there's an awful lot of stuff!

Hi there
My mom bought both of your books, after hearing you on 702. She has passed them onto me and I have been reading them extra slowly, savouring each page, as it brings me such delight......as we come from Bulawayo, and now live in Cape Town.
I absolutely love the way you write, and can imagine all the happenings that were going on. I laughed (and sobbed in parts) as these wonderful animals also became a part of my life. So looking forward to hearing more from you...and thank you, thank you to you and Rich, for the incredible and selfless work that you do.
With love, Kerry Van der Spuy

Hi Bookey,
thanks for your prompt response.Keep getting serious about the next book - I look forward to it immensely. We have certainly had wonderful rains (coupled with unbelievable storms), over the past week or two - long may it last.
My email is : ppt@icon.co.za.We would thoroughly enjoy a Zim visit again, and particularly a stop at Stone Hills.
We hope to be in the Land Claims Court (together with 400 other land owners),in May next year - but we have learned through this, that the judicial system in SA requires much patience.
I look forward to hearing from you when the Lodge is available again.
Kind regards, NEIL.

Hi Neil, thanks so much for your comments - I'm just getting serious about book no. 3 and that sort of encouragement is just what I need! Rich is away in Mocambique, but I'm not alone, I have Spot the Ancient Mongoose on my lap, and two young eagle owls, newly arrived, in a cage outside the bedroom window.
We'll keep them for a couple of months and then release. Hope you are getting these wonderful rains - you can almost see everything greening and growing. The lodge is a bit of a shambles at present, but do send me your email address, and I'll let you know when we are taking visitors again. Anyone with your philosophy is always welcome!
Many thanks again, and I do hope things work out with your land (after all, we are still here!)

After hearing you on 702,I bought Wild Honey - finished it today. It really did make me laugh & cry - your own story of resilience is awsome!I identified very closely with you & your husband - my wife & I are inclined to choose animal company over human quite frequently - as you so accurately put it at the end of your marvellous book - you don't often (ever?) find the same unqualified love & loyalty in humans! We own a 32 hectare plot in the Hartbeespoort area, which is a sanctuary for the Baboons,Jackal,Duiker and the myriad of other small mammals, reptiles & birds which live there.Sadly the property has a land claim on it,and for 6 years we have been the victims of bureaucratic bungling & incompetence in trying to free ourselves of this fallacious claim. We also fear for our future here,as well as for the future of our grand children. Is Stone Hills still open to visitors - if so,please give me details.Zimbabwe was one of our favourite destinations, but we are now torn between supporting the locals, and indirectly supporting the vicious regime which seems determined to destroy it.I really enjoyed your book, and now look forward to reading All the Way Home. Regards, NEIL WHITWARD (Gauteng Johannesburg)

Hi Lynne, Thanks so much, and I understand so well how you feel. No matter what happens, this country stays in your heart. We are still on the farm and all is peaceful for the moment.

I have loved both your books and dread their endings. I pray every day for your safety as I to come from Zim and was very involved in raising orphans with my then husband on a farm in Shangani and later in Selous. I miss the way of life like a missing limb and have never felt my home was anywhere but Zim. I cry daily for that wonderful land and always hope I will return. Lynne S.A.

Thanks, Pat! But that cute little cub grows up to be one of the most formidable animals in Africa - voted by the Guiness Book of Records as the most fearless animal in the world. No teddy bear that one! By the way, if anyone is having trouble finding the Dvd - Honey Badger: Raising Hell, it is Musica and the Look and Listen shops, and also at some of the Exclusive Books stores, like Hyde Park. Otherwise, call Next Entertainment, the distributors in South Africa - 011 783 8050. Just thought I'd put that in as a lot of people say they've had trouble tracking it down...

Awesome video, the footage is amazing and that cute little cub at the end feels like a teddy bear, you just want to hug it :)
