The acclaimed UK director, Russell Labey, who is known for his contribution to the script of the Oscar winning movie, ‘Milk’, is in the director seat of ‘New Boy’.
The play is a sometimes hilarious and occasionally shocking account of adolescence. The story follows Mark’s experiences through high school as he struggles to come to grips with his sexuality when a new boy, Barry, arrives at his school. Mark is attracted to Barry and consequently has doubts about his own sexual orientation. The plot is full of twists and turns and the brilliant scripting helps to keep a balance between the excellent humorous moments and the emotional ones. New Boy is on show at the NewSpace theatre in Long Street Cape Town until the 15th of November. New Boy guarantees a fun and interesting evening out and this play is worth every cent.
