Amidst spy claims and reports that the City of Cape Town paid for an investigation allegedly briefed by the DA, Helen Zille tackles the allegations and invites a retired judge or senior counsel to investigate any alleged misuse of council funds.

Helen, We are behind you all the way. The truth will come out about the conspiracy against you and your coalition. Thank God you have survived the 10th attempt by the ANC to topple your government. We know you have the taxpayer's interest at heart and no funds were abused. You have been transparent about this phony scandal that was the ANC's making when it invented floor crossing in the first place to steal our votes when it couldn't do so at the ballot box.
ubuntu - remind me why you think that Zille should resign? Please remember too that it is not enough to rely on allegations. Our constitution assumes innocence until guilt is proven.I wait with interest to hear from you.
Helen Zille must resign!!!!
You are the most incompetent and racially divisive mayor we have ever had in this city and I hope the latest Watergate-style scandal will bring you and your coalition down. If you don't resign then you must face a vote of no confidence in the next council on October 31st. You're autocratic leadership style is a mixture of both George W Bush and Richard Nixon.
IOL reports:
African National Congress Western Cape provincial secretary Mcebisi Skwatsha said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon that Zille should resign.
He claimed Zille "has misused council funds to pay for an illegal investigation that was initiated by the DA for narrow party political interests".
"It is unacceptable that a council engages in espionage against its own councillors.
"It is an abuse of power and a knife held at the very throat of democracy." - Sapa
