A 'danseur' is a male ballet dancer. South African Ballet Theatre (SABT) danseur, Patrick Mngeni, started dancing at the tender age of seven at the Zama Dance School in Gugulethu. He soon realised the opportunities that ballet could open up to him and earned himself a bursary to Pretoria Technikon where he studied a number of different dance forms.
Patrick is a member of the SABT Corps de Ballet which is the group of permanent dancers in a ballet company who often work as a backdrop for the principal dancers.
