BeardSurfer Travel Trimmer Review
What Is BeardSurfer® Travel Trimmer On The Go
I am known for two things in my circle of friends: my love for travel and my impeccable beard. Contrary to popular belief, a beard is not something that sprouts perfectly; it takes time and the perfect device to groom and shape a beard to its full potential. That is why I was happy to find BeardSurfer, the perfect device for grooming on the go.
What to Consider Before Buying a Beard Trimmer
Not all beard trimmers are created equal. When purchasing one, it is important to look for these four attributes: blades, motors, structural build, and any accessories that might come with it.
#1 BEARD TRIMMER FOR GUYS ON THE GO
Arguably the most important feature of a beard trimmer, a blade of quality construction is a must. It should be sharp and constructed of sturdy metal as to not leave cuts or razor burn. Stainless steel and titanium blades provide the most quality, as they are strong, sharp, and do not rust.
A beard trimmer's motor provides power to the blades so that trimming is possible. The ideal motor can run for as long as necessary without experiencing any performance lag. The power routed to the blade shows no decline in performance during grooming.
The trimmer's build is incredibly important, especially for use during travel. It should be made of hard, plastic resin and not a lower quality plastic that breaks on impact if dropped. A quality casing protects both the blades and motor and keeps the trimmer running for a long time.
Every beard trimmer is different. Some may only be used with a cord, while others offer the feature of cordless trimming. Most come with a carrying case, but the structural integrity of cases vary. Newer models include precision trimming with the use of a laser guide and a vacuum to keep the hair from your face or sink. The trimmer may also have attachments that allow for trimming nose and ear hair as well as eyebrows.
Cordless and ready to travel, BeardSurfer was created for men who love to roam without compromising quality beard care. The BeardSurferTrimmer has a ridiculously fast motor speed that powers its sharp blades made for precision cuts, no matter the length of the beard. It boasts several cutting lengths, as well as a grip designed to be ergonomic, comfortable, and provide an enjoyable trimming experience. BeardSurfer also packs lightly; it measures in at about the length of an average hand while being light enough to not be a nuisance during extended grooming sessions.
The Benefits of the BeardSurferTrimmer
The BeardSurfer is jam packed with benefits, including interchangeable combs; a powerful, rechargeable battery; a stylish yet ergonomic design; portability; added accessories; and a mid-range price point.
Five interchangeable combs give this beard trimmer a variety of options. While some combs are best used for traditional beard trimming, others can be used to cut hair or groom a mustache. The combs range in length from 1.0 to 13 mm, giving the user the option of keeping length or going short.
The BeardSurfer comes equipped with two rechargeable AAA batteries. When fully charged, the trimmer can run for one to two hours, which, depending on your grooming habits, can equal twenty to thirty shaves.
To say the BeardSurfer is ergonomic is almost an understatement. It fits perfectly in any hand and allows for a grip that keeps the cut precise and the trimmer in your hands no matter how hard you are rocking out to your favorite tunes.
The BeardSurfer is made to be portable, and it does not disappoint. It is small--around the length of your hand--and lightweight. It fits in any type of luggage and adds minimal weight when you are on the go.
While accessories are not necessary for this awesome trimmer, it also comes with three AAA batteries, oil to keep the blades running smoothly, and a small brush to clean excess hair from the trimmer.
Real talk: there are some beard trimmers out there that will tame your fuzz but drain your wallet. Not BeardSurfer. It is set at a mid-range price point that makes it even more accessible to those who need it. Check for Price Here.
Don't just take my word for it; many men on the internet are singing BeardSurfer's praises. They love BeardSurferTrimmer for its lightweight presentation, long lasting battery, and, of course, its ability to trim a beard precisely the way they intended. Check out these testimonials.
Norelco MG3750 Multigrooming
The Norelco MG375 is an all-in-one trimmer with 13 different attachments, including those for nose and ear hair. It uses a lithium ion rechargeable battery and its blades constantly sharpen themselves. Unlike the BeardSurfer, it does not require oil to clean the blades. It also offers less time per battery charge, as the MG375 is only able to operate for one hour compared to the BeardSurfer's two hour maximum; however, the MG375 is able to complete a full grooming after just five minutes on the charger. The MG375 sits at a low price point and is good for those who are willing to recharge often and not looking to spend a lot of money.
- More Attachments (13 versus 5)
- Self sharpening blades
- No oil cleaning
- Low price point, but more expensive battery
- Shorter battery charge

Wahl Model 5622
Like the Norelco MG375, the Wahl Groomsman boasts self sharpening blades. However, its blades need to be oiled regularly in order to maintain peak performance. It includes 14 attachments, including covers for stubble shaves and a separate nose and ear hair trimmer.
It comes with its own carrying case, a brush to remove excess hair from the blades, and blade oil. The Groomsman is waterproof, but it is also heavy, weighing in at at a full pound; this extra weight could slow down a grooming session significantly. It also comes with a charger that can be used in either 110 or 220 volt outlets, taking the stress out of grooming during travel, and sits at a price point comparable to the MG375. The Groomsman is perfect for someone who does not mind the arm workout they will receive by grooming with this heavy duty shaver.
- More attachments (14 versus 5)
- Separate ear and nose hair trimmer
- Self sharpening blades
- Much heavier than the BeardSurfer
- Can be used in any outlet
- Low price point

Wahl Stainless Steel
The Wahl Lithium Ion+ is all about speed. When charged for an hour, it can run for up to four hours. When charged for a minute, it can run for up to three minutes. The Lithium Ion+ has four attachments that focus on precision, detail, and miscellaneous grooming. Like the BeardSurfer, it sits at a mid-range price point and is lightweight, making it a good "on the go" beard trimmer. The Lithium Ion+ is perfect for the person who has absolutely no time to spare--they want a quick shave, and the Lithium Ion+ can provide it.
