FEND Review: the Nasal Spray That Filters Out Airborne Allergens
When it comes to airborne allergens and illnesses, we're all looking for innovative tools we can use to stay ahead of the game and help us keep ourselves and those around us healthy. We're familiar with wearing masks, washing our hands frequently, and keeping our distance from the people around us.
But have we ever considered using a device that could help clear our airways?
The FEND by Sensory Cloud nasal spray offers this as our path forward, and as the scientific evidence for it stacks up, it's far from a claim to sneeze at.
This product provides another way to strengthen our defenses against illness outside of our most common devices.
It utilizes a spray that comes out of a small dispenser that resembles an inhaler and, when breathed in, can clean the air that you breathe.
While I was excited to try something new to tackle airborne allergens, carcinogens, and pathogens, I wasn't sure if this would be the solution we were looking for. But I realized that my resistance came from not trying something like this before.
After all, most people don't pull out a dispenser when they have a cold or flu. Still, I tried to keep an open mind, and the more I looked into this nasal spray, the more impressive features I found.
Read on for our FEND review to learn more about how the FEND mister is taking down sinus-related challenges one breath at a time.
Meet the Founder
FEND's inventor, Harvard Professor Dr. David Edwards, believes he's found a potential solution for us to all breathe easier.
With a background in Anthrax defense and an inhaled insulin delivery system, this Harvard scientist is confident that he will meet his mission:
"To help protect people in a world filled with harmful airborne contaminants."
Simple and Travel-Friendly
The FEND Airway Cleansing Mist fits right in the palm of your hand. It resembles a small inhaler and can be taken with you anywhere, which is a relief when you live an active lifestyle and can't afford to carry bulky items when traveling.
The main ingredients are simple, featuring a blend of water, calcium, and sodium. FEND nasal spray says that this natural blend will clean your airways like an ocean mist.
Given that many of us are stuck inside stuffy offices with lots of people and poor ventilation, this sounds like it could keep us from sneezing on each other, which would be a huge relief.
Ease of Use
My favorite part about this mister was how easy it was to use. After you spray it, you take two breaths, and you are ready to go on with your day. FEND says that the mist will last for 6 hours before it begins to wear off.
Because it's drug-free, you can use the mist as many times as you want throughout the day. I found it got me through most of the workday by using it just once, but if you are out and about, there is definitely enough to use it more than once.
Upon breathing it in, I felt a cooling sensation. Once that settled, I did feel like I could breathe a little easier. I think it's too soon to say if it's helping me to avoid catching airborne viruses, but I feel like the psychological benefits outweigh that in some ways.
The nasal spray made me feel that much safer from everything floating around in the air, even without wearing a mask.
If you want to feel comfortable going out without a mask when viruses are on the rise or it’s allergy season, then the FEND nasal spray could help you reach a compromise.
Why Does It Work?
I was curious about how the FEND mister was cleaning my airways, so I looked into it further. As they mention on their website, their mission is to naturally support the defense systems that your body already has.
They then go into detail about that defense system. We have a "sticky trap" that captures germs and keeps them from traveling too far down into our lungs and making us sick. However, it only works properly when the lining is adequately hydrated – and this is where FEND comes in.
FEND takes that sticky trap and makes it more effective so that your body can eliminate particles (like those from viruses) even more effectively.
FEND is unique thanks to its bottles and the technology behind how it sprays the ultra-fine mist. The atomized mist is more effective at filtering airborne particles and germs because of how it gets absorbed into your upper airways when in use, overall helping you breathe better.
I was impressed by the research page on FEND's website. They have studies dating back to 1988!
Peer-reviewed research indicates that taking two deep breaths of FEND can fortify your body’s natural defenses against airborne pathogens for up to six hours.
If you dig deeper into these studies, you find that they discuss how there are fewer viral particles in people that use the nasal spray. During the first six hours after use, it can keep your airway free of 99% of respiratory droplets, which can carry contaminants deeper into your lungs.
Eliminating these contaminants also means that you’re not breathing them back out into the environment for other people without immunity to catch either. So, you’re keeping both yourself and people around you healthier.
In short, people aren't running around with runny noses when they’re using FEND, and they're breathing easier. But that's just on the surface.
FEND's nasal spray can give you a leg up in staying protected from whatever virus is making the rounds.
The price was my one hangup with this product. At $29.99, FEND's Airway Cleansing Mist isn't out of reach for most people, but that is for a one-month supply.
So if you want to keep using this product regularly, you're looking at roughly $348 per year. For some, this could be outside of their budget unless they receive it as a gift.
However, they seem to offer some wholesale discounts, plus free shipping if you subscribe, which could reduce the cost over time.
And for many people, this might not be a problem at all. Perhaps you would only use the spray when local infections increase and stop once numbers have dropped, making the most sense since this is how we utilize other tools to prevent virus transmission.
I would want to have it ready to go if I expected to be around many people and I knew there was a virus like a cold or seasonal flu affecting people in my area.
Based on Fend's website, you can see that they value sustainability when making their product. To them, sustainability matters just as much as clean air. In their design, materials, manufacturing process, and delivery, they show that they want to make a positive environmental impact.
They were careful to make sure that the ingredients in FEND mist were not harmful to the environment. In addition, they have created a free take-back program for their used dispensers to try to lessen their contribution to waste.
When you go to order, they give you the option to attach a free take-back bag with your order. When selected, they send you a mailer that you can use to send back up to 12 of the nasal dispensers at once.
This option is convenient for people who want to reduce their waste but are worried that a device like this would be complicated to process.
I also noticed that they offer recycling stations specifically for businesses that put in bulk dispenser orders, and once it's time to send them back, you notify FEND, and they will come by and pick them up. That saves a lot of logistical resources so they can be devoted to other projects.
The FEND inhaler is small, uses natural ingredients, is easy to take with you anywhere, and has many scientific studies over three decades to support its claims.
I also enjoyed the feeling of using it. It felt like I had stepped outside on vacation and taken a whiff of the fresh air before going about my day. I found it relaxing to use, though it almost felt too simple. However, I'm relieved that the evidence backs up its effectiveness.
And beyond the shape and size, I liked how lightweight it was. I could quickly grab it, take it with me, and not worry about it weighing me down. In addition, FEND's care and concern regarding their environmental impact are essential to me. I am glad that they are taking steps to prioritize sustainability.
I can not find any significant drawbacks to using this product, and it feels good to know that I am doing everything I can to keep myself and others safe.
At $29.99, I would say it's not as cheap as grabbing a bunch of masks in bulk, but as a novel device that can help cut back on the viral load of anything we might be exposed to, the price makes sense.
I noticed that it said the one-month timeline for use only applied after you had opened the lid and started using it. Perhaps you could get together with a few friends and buy large quantities, store them, and use them as needed. The individual price could drop below $29.99 in that case.
If this FEND review has piqued your interest in trying the FEND nasal spray, I would say it is worth trying at least once. You can use it three times a day without it running out by the end of the month, it's easy to do around mealtimes, so you don't forget.
It also has a discreet design and color scheme, so you can use it without feeling the need to find a private space like a bathroom to avoid scrutiny.
And if you are running a workplace, the wholesale option could benefit you in making sure your employees feel more comfortable working in person during a viral outbreak because of its ability to reduce spreading viruses.
I think it's too early to say that this could replace some of the other measures we have for fighting viruses, but it is definitely an ally. I'm grateful that this product exists alongside other tools to help all of us navigate a world with new viruses cropping up regularly.
