Ordering Process
If you decide to order with Memories Renewed, it will be a simple step. When you go to the “Order” page, you will find all the necessary information on how to place an order, along with the form you need to fill out.
The order form has check boxes that, depending on your media, open a separate sub-form with additional details related to the selected media, such as:
- Digital file option
- Resolution
- Digital output or digital copy type
Note: If multiple media types are checked in the form, you can easily get lost when filling in details. We advise you to read the headings between the subforms to know which media you are entering details for.
If you are unsure about the prices and how much the order would cost, you can get a price estimate for your order, which is free.
Shipping
Memories Renewed does not offer secure shipping packages. You must ship the media in your own box. Under the FAQ, the company provides answers for proper packing and instructions. We advise you to pack your memories as best you can.
After you place an order, you will receive an order confirmation email with further instructions, which you should print and put inside your package and ship using the courier of your choice (USPS, UPS, or FedEx). When your media arrives, they will notify you by email.
If you don’t feel safe mailing your media, you can schedule an appointment at the service and drop it off by yourself. Their address is 500 73rd Avenue NE, Suite 110, Fridley, MN 55432.
Turnaround Time
Looking at the information on the website, Memories Renewed has three estimated times:
- 1 to 2 weeks for smaller orders
- 2 to 4 weeks for medium-sized orders
- 4 to 6 and more weeks for large orders
Digital Copy
You can choose:
- Digital download
- USB 3.0 thumb drive
- Both digital download and USB 3.0 drive
The digital download will cost you $10 per 20GB of files.
If you don’t like the idea of paying for the digital download, you can go with the iMemories service, which allows you to download the media for free.
The price for a USB 3.0 drive depends on the storage capacity, ranging from 20 to 50$.
Transfer Process
During the transfer process, the media receives all the necessary attention from the service staff, contributing to the quality of your saved memories in digital format.
Although we know that Memories Renewed accepts many different media, the main focus is on photos.
Photos get high-resolution scanning, which captures a great number of details. Also, they use flatbed scanners for the best photo sharpness.
The website states that each scanned photo gets custom edited and examined by a senior editor for quality assurance. As for photo editing (slides and negatives also), they may receive:
- Cropping
- Color and contrast corrections
- Cleaning surface stains
- Red-eye correction if needed
After scanning photos, slides, and negatives, they name folders for better organization.
For poor-quality photos, they offer a photo restoration service for $80 per hour.
If you are interested in a photo restoration for some of your photos, we recommend you check out the ScanMyPhotos service, which offers this feature for $45.50 per photo.
The slides and negatives are examined and, if necessary, cleaned with soft brushes and a microfiber cloth. Later, digital corrections are made to ensure that the images come out clean and scratch-free. Like with photos, slides and negatives also go through a final quality inspection by the senior editor.
Old Films Transfer
Memories Renewed provides professional 8mm, Super8, 16mm, and 9.5mm film transfers with and without sound. Besides HD film transfer, you can also get film scanned in 2K HD and 4K UHD.
Before projection, the films are carefully cleaned, which helps to make the film clearer when scanned, making the output film scan look clean. If the film has damaged splices, they are repaired before transfer.

Videotape Transfer
They perform the VHS transfer by first recording the entire footage from each tape and then reviewing the recorded footage digitally to ensure quality. You can also request they remove or combine some parts of the videos.
They offer repair services for tapes that may have suffered damage by a VCR player or damaged casing which they can replace to be able to extract the content and transfer it to digital format.
The footage is transferred to a standard digital file which is H.264 MP4 format, that you can play on the computer and other supporting devices.
Note: Color correction for videotapes is not included.
Audio Transfer
Audio recordings on magnetic tape are converted to high-quality digital audio that is 16-bit, 44.1 kHz WAV on CD and MP3.
Like videotapes, the whole content is captured on each tape or reel, which afterward is reviewed digitally for quality. They also edit out blank space or static noise.
Note: To avoid extra charges, check your tapes for blanks if possible. Otherwise, you will be charged a $10 minimum per tape if the tape is discovered to be blank.
